DJ China Researcher: Average Econ Growth In Next Five Years 8%
28-Sep-2011
BEIJING (Dow Jones)--China's economy will likely grow more slowly over the next five years for an average annual growth rate of 8%, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported Wednesday, citing a government researcher.
It has become more difficult for China to maintain growth around 9%-10% in the long term, the report cited Lu Zhongyuan, vice-director of the State Council's Development Research Center, as saying.
China's "macro-control policies" should continue their current direction next year but need to be more targeted and flexible, he said.
China's second-quarter gross domestic product this year rose 9.5% from a year earlier, compared with 9.7% growth in the first quarter.
