Napoleón escribió:Transportadora de Gas del Sur SA rose the most in six years on speculation that control of the Argentine pipeline operator will pass to a company with greater appetite to expand the business.
TGS, controlled by Petroleo Brasileiro SA, or Petrobras, rose 14 percent to 12 pesos at the close in Buenos Aires, the biggest gain since January 2009.
The stock has surged 32 percent in the seven trading days since Rio de Janeiro-based Petrobras announced plans to divest $13.7 billion of assets as the world’s most-indebted publicly traded oil company seeks funds amid a Brazilian corruption probe that’s shutting it out of debt markets.
“News that Petrobras increased its asset sale plan has spurred rumors that the TGS stake may be sold,” Carlos Aszpis, an analyst at brokerage Schweber, said by telephone from Buenos Aires. “This comes at a time many Argentine companies are rallying ahead of the change of government.”
Mario Yaniskowski, a spokesman for TGS, declined to comment when reached by phone in Buenos Aires. Petrobras isn’t releasing details of assets to be sold, it said in an e-mailed response that referred back to its March 2 filing.
Energy companies including Pampa Energia SA, restricted by price controls and high inflation under President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, are leading gains on Argentina’s benchmark index this year ahead of presidential elections in October.
The press department of Pampa, which also owns a stake in TGS, declined to comment when asked if it has first right of refusal for Petrobras’ stake in the pipeline operator.
